James Lake Farms
James Lake Farms
The James Lake Farms cranberry marsh is located in Northern Wisconsin, and grows five different fruit varieties across 189 acres of marsh beds, including 65 organic acres. Originally started in the 1950s, James Lake Farms has a rich history of growing and farming innovations, and is committed to continuing this tradition by adopting the best and most effective organic growing methods.
James Lake Farms is a cranberry marsh located in beautiful northern Wisconsin. In 2006, John Stauner and his wife Nora purchased the marsh from their former employer, Northland Cranberries, Inc. The James Lake Farms team includes managers Tom Drozd, Ben Riker (John and Nora’s oldest son). The James Lake Farms team is also assisted by an excellent group of seasonal workers who help make their organic operation a success.
“As organic farmers, we believe in protecting the natural integrity of the food we grow and the land on which we grow it. MegaFood® believes as strongly as we do in these values and we’re proud to be partnering with them.”
The marsh was originally started in 1950, and several of their beds date from this time. The property has gone through seven owners since, and has had a deep history of innovation. The goal of James Lake Farms is to continue this rich tradition by adopting organic growing methods. During the harvest season, which is typically in October, James Lake Farms sells fresh cranberries and offers harvest tours. They are very proud to grow and sell organically certified cranberries, and are always happy to welcome visitors to the farm to tour the marshes. MegaFood® is happy to partner with James Lake Farms and source our antioxidant-rich cranberries from this family-owned and operated organic Wisconsin farm.
